Prayer to the Mother of God

O Mary, my Mother and my Lady, I offer you my soul, my body, my life and my death, and all that will follow it. I place everything in your hands. O my Mother, cover my soul with your virginal mantle and grant me the grace of purity of heart, soul and body. Defend me with your power against all enemies, and especially against those who hide their malice behind the mask of virtue (79). Fortify my soul that pain will not break it. Mother of grace, teach me to live by God's power (315).

O Mary, a terrible sword has pierced your holy soul. Except for God, no one knows of your suffering. Your soul does not break; it is brave, because it is with Jesus. Sweet Mother, unite my soul to Jesus, because it is only then that I will be able to endure all trials and tribulations, and only in union with Jesus will my little sacrifices be pleasing to God. Sweetest Mother, continue to teach me about the interior life. May the sword of suffering never break me. O pure Virgin, pour courage into my heart and guard it (915).

Evening Prayer

Lord,

You bless us as we rest

Restore us as we sleep

You care for us as we drift off

And make our dreaming sweet.

You are the safest place

You are the God of Grace

Forgiven, loved and held by you

Is each small seed of faith.

You know our thoughts and feelings

You see our deep desires

You understand our weariness

And catch each tear we cry.

You walk beside us every day

You are a constant friend

You stay with us all through the night

On you we can depend.

PRAYER TO DEFEAT THE WORK OF SATAN

PRAYER TO DEFEAT THE WORK OF SATAN

O Divine Eternal Father, in union with Your Divine Son and the Holy Spirit, and through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg You to destroy the power of Your greatest enemy – the evil spirits. Cast them into the deepest recesses of hell and chain them there forever! Take possession of Your Kingdom which You have created and which is rightfully Yours. Heavenly Father, give us the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. I repeat this prayer out of pure love for You with every beat of my heart and with every breath I take. Amen.

Prayer For Deliverance From Evil

PRAYER FOR DELIVERANCE FROM EVIL

Immaculate Heart! Help us to conquer the menace of evil, which so easily takes root in the hearts of the people of today, and whose immeasurable effects already weigh down upon our modern world and seem to block the paths towards the future!

From famine and war, deliver us. From nuclear war, from incalculable self-destruction, from every kind of war, deliver us. From sins against the life of man from its very beginning, deliver us. From hatred and from the demeaning of the dignity of the children of God, deliver us. From every kind of injustice in the life of society, both national and international, deliver us. From readiness to trample on the commandments of God, deliver us. From attempts to stifle in human hearts the very truth of God, deliver us. From the loss of awareness of good and evil, deliver us. From sins against the Holy Spirit, deliver us, deliver us.

Accept, O Mother of Christ, this cry laden with the sufferings of all individual human beings, laden with the sufferings of whole societies. Help us with the power of the Holy Spirit to conquer all sin: individual sin and the “sin of the world,” sin in all its manifestations. Let there be revealed, once more, in the history of the world the infinite saving power of the Redemption: the power of merciful Love! May it put a stop to evil! May it transform consciences! May your Immaculate Heart reveal for all the light of Hope!

Who Is Saint Michael the Archangel?

Saint Michael is one of the three archangels named in Sacred Scripture, together with Gabriel and Raphael.

The name Michael means "Who is like God?"—a battle cry proclaiming that no one can equal the majesty and power of God.

Throughout the Bible, Saint Michael appears as:

  • Defender of God's people
  • Leader of the heavenly armies
  • Warrior against Satan
  • Protector of the faithful
  • Champion of truth and justice

In the Book of Revelation, Saint Michael leads the heavenly angels in defeating Satan and casting him from heaven.

"Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon."
(Revelation 12:7)

History of the Saint Michael Prayer

The shorter Prayer to Saint Michael was composed by Pope Leo XIII in 1886 after he reportedly experienced a frightening vision concerning attacks against the Church.

He directed that the prayer be recited after Low Mass throughout the Catholic world. Although this practice later became optional after the Second Vatican Council, many parishes and faithful Catholics continue to pray it, recognizing its importance in spiritual warfare.

In recent decades, several popes—including Saint John Paul II—have encouraged Catholics not to forget this powerful prayer.

Why Do Catholics Pray to Saint Michael?

Catholics do not worship Saint Michael.

Instead, they ask for his intercession, just as Christians ask one another to pray for them.

Through God's power, Saint Michael helps protect us against:

  • Spiritual temptation
  • Attacks of the devil
  • Fear and anxiety
  • Evil influences
  • Occasions of sin
  • Spiritual discouragement

All protection ultimately comes from God, and Saint Michael serves as one of God's faithful heavenly protectors.

When Should You Pray the Saint Michael Prayer?

Many Catholics pray this prayer:

  • Every morning
  • Before going to sleep
  • After Holy Mass
  • Before traveling
  • During times of temptation
  • Before making important decisions
  • During spiritual struggles
  • While praying the Rosary
  • For protection of family members
  • During times of fear or uncertainty

It is also commonly prayed during Eucharistic Adoration and other devotions.
