THE LITANY OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS
THE LITANY OF THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS
The litany contains a total of 33 invocations, one for each year of our Lord’s life on earth. A partial indulgence is attached to this litany.
The Litany of the Most Sacred Heart is a way to express love and devotion to the Sacred Heart, His Heart which burns for love of you! Meditate on the various attributes of His Heart and, in doing so, fill your heart with a loving fire and an invigorating strength to trust in Him.
This prayer said with love not only inflames our own hearts but also acts as a reparation, a way to console the Heart of Jesus, for the coldness and ingratitude from those who reject His Love.

An Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
I come before you to consecrate my life to your loving care. You are the source of all goodness and mercy, the fountain of love that overflows for humanity.
In humble surrender, I offer you my entire being, my thoughts, words, and actions, my joys and sorrows, my hopes and fears, my past, present, and future. I place everything in your Sacred Heart, trusting in your divine providence.
I seek refuge in your boundless love and mercy. Please accept me as your devoted servant, that I may follow you faithfully and imitate your virtues. I desire to live each moment in intimate communion with you, to be a witness of your love in the world.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I consecrate my heart to you, asking that you purify it, heal its wounds, and inflame it with your love. Make my heart like unto yours, gentle and humble, overflowing with compassion and forgiveness.
I consecrate my mind to you, Sacred Heart of Jesus, that my thoughts may be guided by truth, wisdom, and purity. Help me to discern your will and to seek your guidance in all things. May my intellect be dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and understanding, and may it be a source of light and hope for others.
I consecrate my hands to you, Sacred Heart of Jesus, that I may use them to do works of mercy and compassion. Help me to serve others selflessly, to reach out to the needy, and to bring comfort to the suffering and the oppressed. May my actions be a reflection of your love and a testament to your presence.
I consecrate my whole being to you, Sacred Heart of Jesus, knowing that you will transform and sanctify me. Take complete control of my life, guide my steps, and lead me ever closer to the Father. I surrender myself to your divine will, trusting in your providence.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in you. With confidence and love, I consecrate myself to you, seeking to live in intimate union with you. May your Sacred Heart be my refuge, my strength, and my joy, both now and for all eternity.
I make this act of consecration in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Prayer to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus by Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque
Devotion to the Sacred Heart is devotion to Jesus and his love. It is the image of God's love revealed in the pierced heart of His Son. It is a sign or a symbol of both the divine and human love that Jesus has for his Father and for us. It also symbolizes the interior life of Jesus which led to his willingness to lay down his life for us.
In Catholic churches and homes, one of the most popular images of Jesus is the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as we know it today, came about through the visions and experiences of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, given to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in France during the Seventeenth Century.
The development of the Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus over the centuries, prior to its becoming a public practice:
It is seen by the Church that Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, began at the Last Supper, at the instigation of the Eucharist itself. As Our Lord sat at the Paschal table, before pronouncing those sacred words that would become so core to our entire Faith (in fact, the very heart of the Church Herself) His Beloved Disciple, Saint John the Evangelist, lay his head upon the breast of Our Lord. He laid his head upon the Heart of Jesus Christ and remained there in repose.
It is in imitation of this repose, that Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus began. It then continued to develop, with an emphasis from the early Church Fathers, on the entering into the sacred wound in Christ’s side – the wound, created by the piercing of the soldier’s lance, whilst He hung on the cross. Cor Jesus, lancea perforatum, Miserere nobis (Heart of Jesus, pierced by a lance, have mercy on us), as the Litany of the Sacred Heart says.
For it was from this Sacred Wound that Blood and Water flowed – His Blood and Water – which was seen by the early Fathers, as the birth of the Church Herself. As the early theologian Tertullian stated:
By the wound in the side of Christ was formed the Church, the true Mother of all the living.
These Devotions are designed to focus our attention towards the love He has for us and to make amends for the indignities and sacrileges He has suffered from our neglect. To make amends through acts of reparation, so that our hearts will reciprocate in some small way, something of His Great Burning Love.
Neglected by us, in that we have forgotten the enormity of that which He has bestowed upon us. Because, through the institution of the Eucharist and His dying for us on the cross, He has given everything and we are unaware or even ungrateful.

Sacred Heart with the Immaculate Heart
We fail to watch, as His disciples failed. We fail to give homage, through our ingratitude, or rather our forgetfulness. It is now time for us to make some return for all that He has given us.
This is the message of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. And of course, this need for acknowledgement and gratitude towards Him is essential for our Salvation.

PRAYER FOR A SAFE TRAVEL
Here's a Catholic prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for a safe travel:
Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for a Safe Travel
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, loving and compassionate Savior, We come before You with grateful hearts, seeking Your divine protection and guidance as we embark on a journey. You are the source of all goodness and mercy, and we place our trust in Your loving care.
Bless our travel, dear Lord, and watch over us every step of the way. Guide our paths and keep us safe from all harm and danger. Be our shield against accidents, obstacles, and unforeseen difficulties. Grant us clear roads, favorable weather, and smooth transportation.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, You who calmed the storm and walked on water, Extend Your loving hand to us, and let Your peace fill our hearts. Guard us against anxiety and fear, and grant us a peaceful and joyful journey. May Your presence be with us, comforting and strengthening us in times of weariness.
We entrust ourselves to Your divine protection, dear Jesus, and we offer this prayer with confidence in Your infinite mercy. Wrap us in Your loving embrace, and bring us safely to our destination. And when we reach our journey's end, may we give thanks for Your guidance and rejoice in Your loving care.
We make this prayer through the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary, the angels, and all the saints, who watch over us from heaven.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, we trust in You. Amen.

HOW TO PRAY THE DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET
The Divine Mercy Chaplet is a popular Catholic prayer that is especially meaningful around Easter.
The Divine Mercy Chaplet has its roots in 20th century Poland, when Jesus appeared to St. Maria Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun.
The Divine Mercy Chaplet can be prayed with traditional Rosary beads, though to do so isn’t necessary. The Chaplet only takes a few minutes, and thousands of Catholics around the world pray it every day to ask for God’s mercy.
The period of time from Good Friday to Divine Mercy Sunday (the first Sunday following Easter) is when many Catholics will pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
"Where, if not in the Divine Mercy, can the world find refuge and the light of hope?" -Pope Saint John Paul II
The Divine Mercy Chaplet, also known as the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy, is a powerful prayer in which we ask for God’s mercy.
The Origin of the Chaplet
In the 1930s, Jesus appeared to St. Faustina Kowalska, a humble and kind Polish nun, and revealed to her the depths of His mercy. St. Faustina entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in 1925, but she passed away just thirteen years later from tuberculosis in 1938. Throughout her life of holiness, she continually received revelations from Jesus and diligently wrote down what He told her in her diary. St. Faustina was canonized by St. (Pope) John Paul II on April 30, 2000.
In 1935, an angel appeared to St. Faustina, and she heard the call to pray for mercy. The next day, Christ appeared and urged her to pray the Chaplet herself and with others at the hour of death. She wrote down this revelation in her diary:
"Encourage souls to say the Chaplet which I have given you. Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death. When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the Merciful Savior. Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation. Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this Chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy. Through the Chaplet you will obtain everything, if what you ask for is compatible with My will."
-St. Faustina’s Diary
We pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for mercy — in our own lives and in our neighbors, too. And we also pray to remind ourselves that we must rely on God; we must recognize our weakness and replace our anxieties and worries with abounding trust in God. We pray so that we might honestly live out the words “Jesus, I trust in You.”
Those who sincerely say ‘Jesus, I trust in You’ will find comfort in all their anxieties and fears … There is nothing more man needs than Divine Mercy – that love which is benevolent, which is compassionate, which raises man above his weakness to the infinite heights to the holiness of God.Saint (Pope) John Paul II (Krakow, Poland – June 7, 1997)
You can pray the Chaplet at any time, but here are three times that are especially impactful when praying for God’s mercy:
After Mass
The Divine Mercy is an intercessory prayer that extends the offering of the Eucharist, so it is especially appropriate to use it after receiving Holy Communion at Mass.
The Chaplet may be prayed at any time, but our Lord specifically told St. Faustina to recite it as a novena during the nine days before the Feast of Mercy (the first Sunday after Easter). He then added: “By this Novena, [of Chaplets] I will grant every possible grace to souls.” (St. Faustina’s Diary, 796)
3:00 p.m. is known as the “hour of great mercy” in remembrance of Christ’s death on the cross at 3:00 p.m. on Good Friday. Similarly, people often pray the Stations of the Cross at this time.
Time needed: 20 minutes.
Using regular Rosary beads (or your ten fingers), follow this structure:Begin with the sign of the cross.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prepare your heart and mind.
You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us.
Pray the prayer of St. Faustina.
On each of the three small beads, pray:
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You! (x3)
Pray an Our Father.
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.
Pray a Hail Mary.
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.
Pray the Apostle’s Creed.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
First decade
On the first large bead: in the traditional Rosary prayer, we say the Our Father for each large bead. In the Divine Mercy Chaplet, we pray the following:
Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
On the ten small beads: In a traditional Rosary prayer, we pray the Hail Mary on each small bead. In the Divine Mercy Chaplet, we pray the following:
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (x10)
Repeat this pattern four times.
For each decade: begin with the “Eternal Father” prayer, and then pray, “For the sake” ten times.
After five decades, pray for mercy.
Repeat the following prayer three times:
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (x3)
Close your time in prayer.
Let us pray: Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.
Conclude with the sign of the cross.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Reflection
Devotion to God’s Divine Mercy bears some resemblance to devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In both cases, sinners are encouraged not to despair, not to doubt God’s willingness to forgive them if they repent. As Psalm 136 says in each of its 26 verses, “God’s love [mercy] endures forever.”

First Friday Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
FIRST FRIDAY DEVOTION
O SACRED HEART OF JESUS, mercifully accept the prayer which I now make to You for help in the moment of my death, when at its approach all my senses shall fail me.
- When, therefore, O kind and merciful Jesus, my weary and downcast eyes can no longer look up to you, be mindful of the loving gaze which I now turn to You, and have mercy on me, a sinner.
- When my parched lips can no longer kiss Your most sacred Wounds, remember that hour those kisses which I now imprint on You, and have mercy on me, a sinner.
- When my cold hands can no longer embrace Your Cross, forget not the affection with which I embrace it now, and have mercy upon me, a sinner.
- When my swollen and lifeless tongue can no longer speak, remember that I called upon You now, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, to You I commend my soul.
O DIVINE HEART OF JESUS, filled with infinite love, broken by my ingratitude and pierced by my many sins and yet loving You still, accept this Act of Consecration that I make to You of all that I am and all that I have. Take every faculty of my soul and body, draw me day by day near and nearer to Your Sacred Heart, and there, as I can bear the lesson, teach me Your blessed way.
O MERCIFUL HEART OF JESUS, Incarnate Son of God, Who for our salvation did vouchsafe to be born in a stable, to pass Your life in poverty, trials, and misery, and to die amid the sufferings of the cross, I entreat You, in the hour of my death to say to Your Father in Heaven, "FATHER FORGIVE HIM"; Say to my soul, "THIS DAY, YOU SHALL BE WITH ME IN PARADISE." My God, my God forsake me not in that hour. "I THIRST"--truly, my God, my soul thirsts after You, Who are the Fountain of living Waters. My life passes like a shadow; yet a little while and all will be consummated. Wherefore, my adorable Savior, from this moment, and for all eternity, "INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMEND MY SPIRIT." Lord Jesus, receive my soul.
O MOST HOLY VIRGIN MARY, Queen of the Holy Rosary and Our Mother of Perpetual Help, in memory of your Seven Sorrows, intercede for us with your divine Son and beg Him, in honor of His Precious Blood and Sacred Passion and Death upon the cross, to forgive our sins and grant us the grace of a holy and happy death. Amen.
OUR FATHER, HAIL MARY, GLORY BE!

CONSECRATION OF OUR FAMILIES TO THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS
CONSECRATION OF OUR FAMILIES TO THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS
O most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thou didst reveal to the blessed Margaret Mary Thy desire to rule over Christian families. Behold, in order to please Thee, we stand before Thee this day, to proclaim Thy full sovereignty over our family.
We desire henceforth to live Thy life, we desire that the virtues, to which Thou hast promised peace on earth, may flower in the bosom of our family; we desire to keep far from us the spirit of the world, which Thou hast condemned. Thou art King of our hearts by our love of Thee alone, with which our hearts are on fire and whose flame we shall nourish by frequent reception of the Holy Eucharist.
Be pleased, O Sacred Heart, to preside over our gathering together, to bless our spiritual and temporal affairs, to ward off all annoyance from us, to bless our joys and comfort our sorrows.
If any of us has ever been so unhappy as to fall into the misery of displeasing Thee, grant that he may remember, O Heart of Jesus, that Thou art full of goodness and mercy toward the repentant sinner.
And when the hour of separation strikes and death enters our family circle, whether we go or whether we stay, we shall all bow meekly before Thine eternal decrees. This shall be our consolation, to remember that the day will come, when our entire family, once more united in heaven, shall be able to sing of Thy glory and Thy goodness forever.
May the immaculate Heart of Mary and the glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph vouchsafe to offer Thee this our act of consecration, and to keep the memory thereof alive in us all the days of our lives.
Glory to the Heart of Jesus, our King and our Father!
Amen.
Share and be blessed

- Ask for the Intercession of Mary – the Mother of God
- Ask for the intercession of the Saints

and forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell; but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life.
