CHAPLET OF
ST. MICHAEL ARCHANGEL
One day, Saint Michael the Archangel appeared to Antonia d'Astonac, a most devout Servant of God and told her that he wished to be honored by nine salutations corresponding to the nine Choirs of Angels, which should consist of one Our Father and three Hail Mary's in honor of each of the Angelic Choirs.
What is the chaplet in the Catholic Church?
A chaplet is a personal devotional prayer that can be prayed privately or in a group, out loud or silently, in a church or in an ordinary setting. There are different types of chaplets, and the two most common are the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
Who is St Michael?
Saint Michael is an archangel, a spiritual warrior in the battle of good versus evil. He is considered a champion of justice, a healer of the sick, and the guardian of the Church. In art Saint Michael is depicted with a sword, a banner, or scales, and is often shown vanquishing Satan in the form of a dragon. Archangel Michael is the angel of protection. And you can call upon Michael for protection over every aspect there is to think of.
What happens when you pray the St Michael chaplet?
Praying the chaplet is said to provide the assistance from Saint Michael the Archangel and the company of one angel from each of the nine celestial choirs when approaching Holy Communion. Praying the
chaplet is also believed gradually to defeat demons and grant a Pure Heart thus delivering from Purgatory.
Promises of St. Michael
"Whoever would practice this devotion in his honor would have, when approaching the Holy Table, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. In addition, for the daily recital of these nine salutations, he promised his continual assistance and that all the holy angels during life, and after death deliverance from Purgatory for themselves and all their relations."
