Prayer Inspired by the Our Father

A Prayer Inspired by the Our Father

Our Father most holy: Our Creator, Redeemer,

Consoler, and Saviour:
Who are in heaven: In the angels and the saints,
enlightening them to know, for You, Lord, are light;
inflaming them to love, for You, Lord, are love; dwelling
in them and filling them with happiness, for You, Lord,
are Supreme Good, the Eternal Good, from Whom all
good comes without Whom there is no good.
Holy be Your Name: May knowledge of You become clearer
in us that we may know the breadth of Your blessings, the
length of Your promises, the height of Your majesty, the
depth of Your judgments.
Your kingdom come: That You may rule in us through Your
grace and enable us to come to Your kingdom where
there is clear vision of You, perfect love of You, blessed
companionship with You, eternal enjoyment of You.
Your will be done on earth as in heaven: That we may love
You with our whole heart by always thinking of You,
with our whole soul by always desiring You, with our
whole mind by always directing all our intentions to
You, and by seeking Your glory in everything, with all
our whole strength by exerting all our energies and
affections of body and soul in the service of Your love
and of nothing else; and we may love our neighbour
as ourselves by drawing them all to Your love with our
whole strength, by rejoicing in the good of others as in
our own, by suffering with others at their misfortunes,
and by giving offence to no one.
Give us this day: in remembrance, understanding, and
reverence of that love which [our Lord Jesus Christ]
had for us and of those things that He said and did and
suffered for us.
Our daily Bread: Your own beloved Son, our Lord Jesus
Christ.
Forgive us our trespasses: through Your ineffable mercy
through the power of the passion of Your beloved Son
and through the merits and intercession of the ever
blessed Virgin and all Your elect.
As we forgive those who trespass against us: And what we do
not completely forgive, make us, Lord, forgive completely
that we may truly love our enemies because of You
and we may fervently intercede for them before You,
returning no one evil for evil and we may strive to help
everyone in You.
And lead us not into temptation: hidden or obvious, sudden
or persistent.
But deliver us from evil: past, present, and to come.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy
Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

A solemn act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary(Venerable Pope Pius XII)

A solemn act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary(Venerable Pope Pius XII)

Most Holy Virgin Mary, tender Mother of men, to fulfill the desires of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the request of the Vicar of Your Son on earth, we consecrate ourselves and our families to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and we recommend to You, all the people of our country and all the world.

Please accept our consecration, dearest Mother, and use us as You wish to accomplish Your designs in the world.

O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and Queen of the World, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our King.

Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism; kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of a virtuous life, an ardent zeal for souls, and a desire to pray the Rosary more faithfully.

We come with confidence to You, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love.

Inflame us with the same Divine Fire which has inflamed Your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart.

Make our hearts and homes Your shrine, and through us, make the Heart of Jesus, together with your rule, triumph in every heart and home.

Amen.

Novena to Saint Rita to ask for Impossible Favors

Rita of Cascia, born Margherita Lotti, was an Italian widow and Augustinian nun venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. After Rita's husband died, she joined an Augustinian community of religious sisters, where she was known both for practicing mortification of the flesh and for the efficacy of her prayers. Wikipedia
Born: 1381, Roccaporena, Italy
Died: 22 May 1457, Cascia, Italy
Feast: 22 May
Canonized: 24 May 1900, Vatican City, Rome by Pope Leo XIII
Children: Giangiacomo Antonio Mancini, Paulo Maria Mancini
Parents: Amata Ferri, Antonio Lotti

Novena to Saint Rita
(May 13 to 21)

O glorious St. Rita, your pleadings before the divine crucifix have been known to grant favors that many would call the impossible.

Lovely St. Rita, so humble, so pure, so devoted in your love for thy crucified Jesus, speak on my behalf for my petition which seems so impossible from my humbled position.

(mention your intention here)

Be propitious, O glorious St. Rita, to my petition, showing thy power with God on behalf of thy supplicant.

Be lavish to me, as thou has been in so many wonderful cases for the greater glory of God.

I promise, dear St. Rita, if my petition is granted, to glorify thee, by making known they favor, to bless and sing thy praises forever.

Relying then upon thy merits and power before the Sacred Heart of Jesus I pray.

Amen.

Chaplet of the Precious Blood

Chaplet of the Precious Blood

Each bead of the Precious Blood Chaplet is, as it were, a chalice filled with the Divine Blood of Jesus, uplifted by Our Lady to the Eternal Father, imploring every grace necessary for your soul and body.

The chaplet consists of seven mysteries in which we meditate on the seven principal blood-sheddings of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus. The beads number thirty three in honor of the thirty three years the Precious Blood flowed in the veins of Jesus before it was all poured out on the Cross for our salvation. Its seven petitions unite with each of the seven blood-sheddings, making up seven chapters in the gospel of Christ’s love for me: “He loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.”

To pray this chaplet, recite the Our Father on each of the thirty-three beads, completing each of the seven groups with the Glory Be, as thanksgiving to the Holy Trinity for this great gift of the Precious Blood.

While reciting this chaplet, you are asked to meditate on each of the seven blood-sheddings of Jesus.

V. O God, come to my assistance!

R. Lord, make haste to help me!

V. Glory be to the Father…

R. As it was in the beginning…

1st Mystery: Jesus shed His Blood in the Circumcision.

Let us ask for chastity of soul and body. Say the Our Father five times then recite the following: “Incline unto my aid, O God. O Lord, make haste to help me.” Say one Glory Be, and complete the mystery by reciting: “We beseech Thee, therefore, help Thy servants whom Thou has redeemed by Thy Precious Blood.”

2nd Mystery: Jesus shed His Blood whilst praying in the Garden of Olives.

Let us ask for the spirit of prayer.

3rd Mystery: Jesus shed His Blood in the scourging.

Let us ask for the grace of mortification.

4th Mystery: Jesus shed His Blood in the crowning with thorns.

Let us ask for contempt of worldly honors.

5th Mystery: Jesus shed His Blood while carrying His cross.

Let us ask for patience.

6th Mystery: Jesus shed His Blood in the crucifixion.

Let us ask for contrition for our sins.

7th Mystery: Jesus shed His Blood and water when His side was pierced.

Let us ask for the grace of perseverance. Say the Our Father three times then recite the following: “Incline unto my aid, O God. O Lord, make haste to help me.” Say one Glory Be, and complete the mystery by reciting: “We beseech Thee, therefore, help Thy servants whom Thou has redeemed by Thy Precious Blood.”

Final Prayer

Eternal Father, I offer Thee the most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ in satisfaction for my sins, for the needs of Holy Church and for the relief of the souls in purgatory.

Act of Consecration of the human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (By Pope Pius XI)

Act of Consecration of the human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

(By Pope Pius XI)

Most sweet Jesus,

Redeemer of the human race,

look down upon us,

humbly prostrate before Thine altar.

We are Thine and Thine we wish to be;

but to be more surely united with Thee,

behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today

to Thy Most Sacred Heart.

Many, indeed, have never known Thee;

many, too, despising Thy precepts,

have rejected Thee.

Have mercy on them all,

most merciful Jesus,

and draw them to Thy Sacred Heart.

Be Thou King, O Lord,

not only of the faithful who have never forsaken Thee,

but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned Thee,

grant that they may quickly return to their Father's house,

lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.

Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions,

or whom discord keeps aloof

and call them back to the harbour of truth and unity of faith,

so that soon there may be but one flock and one shepherd.

Be Thou King of all those who even now sit in the shadow of idolatry or Islam,

and refuse not Thou to bring them into the light of Thy kingdom.

Look, finally, with eyes of pity upon the children of that race,

which was for so long a time Thy chosen people;

and let Thy Blood, which was once invoked upon them in vengeance,

now descend upon them also in a cleansing flood of redemption and eternal life.

Grant, O Lord,

to Thy Church,

assurance of freedom and immunity from harm;

give peace and order to all nations,

and make the earth resound

from pole to pole with one cry:

Praise to the Divine Heart

that wrought our salvation:

to it be glory

and honour forever.

Amen.

Evening Prayer

O my God, at the end of this day

I thank you with all my heart

for all the graces I have received from you.

I am sorry that I have not made a better use of them.

I am sorry for all the sins I have committed against you.

Forgive me, O my God,

and graciously protect me this night.

Blessed Virgin Mary, my dear mother,

take me under your protection.

St. Joseph, my dear Guardian Angel,

and all you saints of God, pray for me.

Amen.

Prayer for the feast of Corpus Christi

Prayer for the feast of Corpus Christi

Throughout the year, O Jesus,

thou dost remain humbly hidden within the tabernacle,

awaiting, receiving, and hearing the souls

who come to Thy feet in search of sympathy

and consolation in their sorrows,

light and support in the trials of life.

Only on this day,

leaving Thy silent loneliness,

Thou goest forth,

passing in triumph and benediction

through the streets and squares of the cities

in a maze of lights and music,

incense and flowers,

in the midst of joyous multitudes,

who fall down in adoration before Thee.

In the synagogue of Capharnaum,

the unbelieving throng,

rebelling against Thy words of faith and love, deserted Thee;

but in the Upper Room that last evening of Thine earthly life,

when the dark clouds of betrayal

were already settling upon Thy sorrowful soul,

Thou didst make Thy divine promise a reality,

perpetuating in the institution of the Holy Eucharist,

as in a living memorial,

the infinite love with which Thy Heart

was overflowing towards mankind.

By means of this august Sacrament,

Thou wouldst prolong Thy presence in the world

even to the end of time;

and the souls of men,

seated at Thy heavenly banquet,

were to taste inwardly the sweet irradiations of Thy grace

and the ineffable delights of Thy love.

O Jesus, make me feel the overwhelming attraction of Thy silent tabernacle,

which has ever drawn not only the little ones,

but has always been and will continue to be

the joy of pure and great souls.

Grant me a living faith and an ardent love

for Thee hidden under the sacramental species,

so that, frequently drawing near to Thy table

where the "Bread of Life" is set out,

I may receive the germ of a life that will not die.

Amen.
