O ANGEL OF GOD, my holy guardian, given to me from heaven, enlighten me this day, and save me from all evil. Instruct me in doing good deeds, and set me on the path of salvation, through the Eucharistic Body and Blood of the Lord!

O ANGEL OF CHRIST, holy companion and protector of my soul and body, forgive me of everything I have done to offend you every day, and protect me from all influence and temptation of the evil one. May I never offend God by my sin. Pray for me to Jesus, that He may make me worthy of the grace of the All-holy Trinity, and of the Most Blessed Mary, and of all the Saints. Amen.

KNEELING at Thy most sacred feet, I venerate thee, great Queen of Heaven, with the deepest reverence, and I confess that thou art the Daughter of God, the Father, the Mother of the Divine Word, and the Bride of the Holy Ghost. Thou art full of grace, virtue and heavenly gifts; thou art the most pure temple of the Holy Trinity. Thou art the treasurer and dispenser of God's mercies. Thy pure heart is overflowing with charity, sweetness and tenderness for us, poor sinners; wherefore we name thee our Lady of Divine Pity. Hence it is with sure confidence that I present myself before thee, our most loving Mother, afflicted and straitened on every side, and I beseech thee to make me feel the love thou hast for me, by granting me (..............), if it is in conformity with the will of God and profitable to my salvation.

 Ah, I beseech thee, turn thy pure eyes upon me and upon all who are dear to me. Consider the cruel warfare waged by the world, the flesh and the devil against our souls, and see how many are perishing in the strife. Remember, most tender Mother, that we are thy children, purchased by the Precious Blood of thine only-begotten Son. Deign to pray for us without ceasing to the Blessed Trinity, that we may have the grace to be ever victorious over the devil, the world and all our perverse passions; that grace whereby the just may sanctify themselves ever more and more, sinners may be converted, heresies destroyed, unbelievers enlightened and the Jews brought to the light of faith. Ask this grace for us, dearest Mother, through the infinite goodness of God most high, the merits of thy most holy Son, the anxious care wherewith thou didst wait upon Him, the love with which thou didst cherish Him, the tears thou didst shed and the sorrows thou didst undergo during His Passion. Prostrate at thy holy feet, Great Queen of Heaven, I venerate thee with profoundest reverence, and acknowledge thee as the DAUGHTER of God the Father, the MOTHER of the Divine Word, and the SPOUSE of the Holy Ghost. Devote time to pray for the souls of departed loved ones. St. Joseph is the Patron of a peaceful and happy death, and is also a very powerful intercessor for the souls in purgatory.  Let us pray with him. 

Prayer :

Saint Joseph, reigning in heaven with Jesus and Mary, intercede for the souls in purgatory.  Today in particular, I ask you to turn your gaze to the soul who is most forgotten in purgatory. This soul longs to see the face of God. O good father, ask the Holy Trinity  to take this soul to the glory of heaven today. 

Remember me Saint Joseph when I die. I beg you to be prompt in delivering me from purgatory, so that I can see you, Jesus and Mary, face to face. Amen.

Thou, Most Holy Virgin,

who dost evermore stand before the throne

of the Most Holy Trinity,

and to whom it is granted at all times

to pray for us to the most beloved Son,

help me especially at my last hour,

Explanation ,History and Exorcism Blessing of Saint Benedict's Medal

The St. Benedict's medal is one of the most famous and powerful symbols of the Catholic faith, but what does it stand for and what do all those symbols mean? Here we will explain the medal and also give you the prayers needed for the blessing of the St. Benedict medals.





Front of the St. Benedict Medal:

St. Benedict is seen holding a cross in his right hand and his Rule of St. Benedict in his left hand.

To his right is a poisoned cup which symbolizes the attempts to poison him and the miracles which saved him. To his left, is the raven which flew away with a poisoned loaf.

Above the poisoned cup and raven are the words Crux sancti patris Benedicti ("The Cross of [our] Holy Father Benedict").

Surrounding the front of the medal are the words Eius in obitu nostro praesentia muniamur! ("May we be strengthened by his presence in the hour of our death"), since he was always regarded as the patron of a happy death.


Back of the St. Benedict Medal:

On the cross area of the back of the medal are the letters C S S M L - N D S M D, initials of the words Crux sacra sit mihi lux! Non draco sit mihi dux! ("May the holy cross be my light! May the dragon never be my overlord!").

The 4 circles containing the letters C S P B stand for Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti ("The Cross of our Holy Father Benedict").

Circling around the medal are the letters V R S N S M V - S M Q L I V B, the initials of the words Vade retro Satana! Nunquam suade mihi vana! Sunt mala quae libas. Ipse venena bibas! ("Begone Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities! What you offer me is evil. Drink the poison yourself!").

At the top is the more familiar word PAX which means "peace".



Brief History of the St. Benedict Medal

The medal is derived from an original symbol of St. Benedict of Nursia who lived during the 6th century. He created the Rule of St. Benedict which among other things taught how to be obedient and humble. During his life as a monk and abbot, there were several attempts to murder him through poison but each time a miracle occurred to spare him. Because of more and more miracles that became associated with St. Benedict, he became a very popular figure in his time.




The medal of St. Benedict combines a depiction of the original figure of St. Benedict of Nursia created during the time of Pope Leo IX (11th century), along with symbols which were seen on the medal again in the 17th century. It was formally approved in 1741 by Pope Benedict XIV. The modern medal in use today was first struck in 1880.




Why is St. Benedict so popular?

This saint medal is clearly rich in meaning and excels at warding off evil spirits as a sacramental. Many have been carrying and wearing St. Benedict medals for years, and thousands of miracles are attributed to St. Benedict through the intercession of these medals throughout the world. It excels in warding off evil and has often been called "the devil chaser".
